Windows sticky note alternative: Digital sticky notes that actually stick!

When you think of a sticky note, the first thing you would obviously expect is for it to stick. Well, that’s why it’s called a sticky note.
But what about digital sticky notes? How would I stick them anywhere? You would be surprised that you can literally stick/attach digital sticky notes to websites, documents, apps, folders and emails in your Windows PC and mobile devices.

This feature is rarely available in any sticky note software including the much acclaimed Windows sticky notes which has advanced with really interesting updates. We therefore bring to you an alternative software, Notezilla that lets you stick notes anywhere and everywhere!

    What is Notezilla?

Notezilla is a professional, elegant & highly rated sticky notes app for Windows & Phones (Android, iOS, iPhone, iPad, Windows Phone etc). It can help you organize your life by keeping all the notes, tasks & reminders that you may need when-ever and where-ever you are.

With sticky notes you hardly have to put effort to take notes, set reminders, etc. Just jot down & move on with your task at hand. Notezilla allows you to create attractive and realistic sticky notes to make desktop look more colorful and attractive.

    Stay on Top

An image showing one of the features of Notezilla.

Check out the other cool features of Notezilla.

    Sticking notes using Notezilla

Here is a short video perfectly depicting this feature:

Notezilla lets you to associate a sticky note with any document, website, program or a window (such as an email window, or Windows Explorer).

    Sticking a Note

To stick a note to any window, right click on the note title and choose Stick To Window icon from the menu. A faster way to do this is to use the shortcut key Ctrl+W. You will be shown the list of windows that are currently open. These windows include websites, documents and programs currently open. Just select a window from the list, and choose OK button to stick the note.

Tip: You can directly stick a note to the underlying window by pressing Ctrl+Shift+W keys from the note.

Sticking notes to websites and web pages

We frequently visit certain websites like shopping websites, bank website etc. to access information or any other purpose. But have you ever imagined that you could pin a sticky notes to the website? You can do that with Notezilla sticky notes. The sticky note will immediately pop up when you access that particular website. This can save you a lot of efforts and valuable time.

For step by step guide on how to do this, you can read the following blog post on the same:

Attaching sticky notes to websites and webpages in Windows

Attaching sticky notes to Microsoft Word, excel and other types of documents

sticky note atached to word docx

You can attach sticky notes to any type of document in a similar manner in Windows. The note will pop up when you open the document. This will help you accomplish tasks faster.

You can read the below blog post for more information:

Attaching sticky notes to Microsoft Word Document in Windows

    Sticking notes to folders

    Sticky Note Windows Explorer

The process of sticking notes to a folder is same as sticking notes to any other website or document using Notezilla. However, to make it work perfectly, there is a setting in Windows Explorer that needs to be enabled.

Notezilla sticks sticky notes to different web pages, documents, folders & emails based on the title of the window. In case of Windows Explorer, by default the title of the window is the folder name. So here comes the problem. If you have multiple folders with the same name, then the sticky note would show up on all those folders because of the same window title. This is not what we want.

In order to solve this, we just have to enable a setting in Windows Explorer – “Display the full path in title bar”. On Windows 7 and above, you would also see a note “Classic theme only” against this setting. It only means that the full path will be shown only in Classic Windows theme. Other themes will use the full path internally (which is what Notezilla requires).

    Sticking notes to emails

This is another very helpful feature. You can attach sticky notes to emails that can help you stay updated and always ahead. Note that the note is only stuck there and it is not associated with the mail. Meaning, it will not be sent along with mail or deleted along with the mail.

    Shortcut

Here’s your reward for reading till here: A shortcut to make life easier!

Notezilla uses the title of the window to show or hide a particular sticky note. Sometimes, you may want to stick the note to windows of similar kind. Ex: All pages of Amazon website, or all documents in Microsoft Word. In such cases you would need to use the ‘wildcard’ method.

To match only a part of the window title, double click on any window title that is listed (shown in above picture) and prefix or suffix the title with the * wildcard.

    Examples:
    1. *Google Search* (shows the note for any search query in Google and in any browser)
    2. *Microsoft Outlook (shows the note even if you change folders in Outlook)

Now this is what you call beauty with brains!

Notezilla thus saves a lot of your time and efforts and makes your sticky note experience joyful.

And here is another lovely feature. Notezilla has free apps for iPhone, iPad & Android to let you access your sticky notes anytime and anywhere! Install it on your phone from App Store or Google Play Store & sync all your sticky notes with the Windows version of Notezilla.

New Update – Copywhiz 5.0.9 for Windows

We are pleased to announce the release of a new version of Copywhiz.

    Introducing to you, Copywhiz 5.0.9!

    Read the revision history here.

This post will explain in detail about all the additions and changes in the new update.

    What’s New?

  • Changed look of Copywhiz: The overall look of Copywhiz has changed for better readability and looks more professional. Now the program windows do not wear any special skin and just uses the default Windows OS skin.
  • ‘Paste As’ feature: This is a very helpful feature we have added to save time and efforts on replacing and renaming files copied.

Generally, when we have to replace an existing file with another file, we have to go through a lot of steps which consume a lot of our time.

With the latest Copywhiz, say, you want to copy file ‘A’ as ‘B’. You just have to select file ‘A’ into Copywhiz and then right click on file ‘B’ so that you can copy ‘A’ as ‘B’. The file name stays the same but the file is replaced if you open and check it.

Really simple! You can paste any file as any other file. Very helpful to designers and programmers.

This option is available under the ‘Paste Special’ menu. To access this menu, go to the destination folder, right-click inside the folder and choose Copywhiz -> Paste Special.

  • Paste-As-Feature

  • Log Content: In the earlier version, there was option to only log errors in file copy. In the latest version, you can also log names of files copied, skipped and renamed. The users thus get an idea of which files were copied, skipped and renamed and which weren’t. The log file is saved as an “.html” file which can be easily read. You can choose this option from the “General Tab” of Copywhiz’s Advanced Settings.
  • Sound on successful file copy: When a file copy task is completed successfully, a sound will be played indicating the success. This is a useful feature when you are copying files silently or in background. You can continue with your work once you set files for copy and come back to check the success of copy on hearing the sound.
  • Change in text size on change in display resolution: When the screen display resolution changes, the text size in Copywhiz changes automatically. So now on Hi-Dpi display resolution, the text size in Copywhiz is larger for better readability.
  • You can check out the latest update by downloading and installing it from here.

Also, this new update is free for all our existing customers.

We hope this update of Copywhiz increases your productivity and enhances your file copy experience. Feedback and suggestions invited.

    Have a good day!

    Thanks for your time :)

Delete files based on size from whole folder tree in Windows using Copywhiz

This post will explain how to delete files based on their size from several folders (and sub-folders) in Windows.

    Why filter files?

You might want to copy only files larger or smaller than a particular size. Filtering them in Windows is really tedious and time consuming. Instead of copying all the files and later deleting the ones not required (both in destination and source folder), you can just skip copying them altogether. Also, the files you actually copied will be deleted immediately from the source, thereby eliminating duplicate files.

Let us look at how this is possible using Copywhiz, a smart file copy program for Windows.

    What is Copywhiz?

Enhance your file-copy experience with Copywhiz as it lets you to have more flexibility & more control over the file-copying process. Here is how Copywhiz makes file copying a breeze:

  • Copy only new or modified files
  • Easily pick files by name, extension, folder etc from bunch of folders
  • Copy files to multiple folders/computers
  • Copy files from multiple folders and paste them at once
  • Pick files from multiple folders and compress in single .zip file
  • Schedule file backups
  • Several more hidden nuggets designed to make your file-copy task easier.
  • Steps to copy and delete files based on size

Note: Copywhiz allows you to copy/move files based on files based on size. So here we will move files to another location based on size to another temporary location. This will delete the files based on the size from the source location. After which you can delete the temporary location. That’s all.

    1. Right-click on the folder from which files need to be copied and choose Copywhiz–>Copy from the menu as shown below:

    2. Go to the destination folder, right-click on it and select Copywhiz–>Paste Advanced. The advanced settings dialogue box will open.

    3. Include files/folders to be moved (deleted) by specifying the file size. You can also preview the list of files that will be copied and those that will be skipped by clicking on the ‘Preview’ button. After confirming, press the ‘OK’ button.

    4. Back in the Copywhiz main window, select the option “Paste and delete original (move)” and then click on the “Paste Now” button. All the required files will be moved successfully to the destination folder. Now you can delete the destination folder because your goal was to delete from the source folder.

    Conclusion

Copy, filter, paste and delete, all at once. This is how Copywhiz saves your time and efforts to increase productivity in just a few clicks. No need of the Windows File Explorer. Achieve all tasks directly from Copywhiz.
