Hi, I am currently using  Notezilla  Windows sticky notes, downloaded in January 2015. For several days now, I have not been able to receive a note from a computer in my LAN. Where we were previously able to send notes, he now receives a 'could not connect' message when trying to send a note to me. I've checked all my settings, uninstalled and reinstalled the program and it still wont connect. Can you please help me?

  1. Remove all computers from the  Notezilla 's computer list (Send To->Computer option).
  2. Exit  Notezilla 
  3. Run  Notezilla 
  4. Add computers again. At this point, she will be asked if firewall settings need to be configured. You must allow  Notezilla  through firewall if any question is asked. Continue to add all computers.
  5. Now try if she can receive notes

If the above steps do not work, then please let me know if you are using any firewall software (Internet/Network security software etc) other than Windows default firewall. If so, what is the exact firewall software you are using and the version?

If you are using multiple firewall software, then you may have to configure all of them to allow  Notezilla  program.

The error message may be due to a firewall issue too. The firewall on the PC might not be allowing to receive notes. Kindly configure the PC  firewall to allow  Notezilla .

You can search for firewall in Windows search box and you will see Allow an app through Windows Firewall . Choose this option and enable  Notezilla  . If  Notezilla  is not listed, then click on 'Allow another app' and add  Notezilla . Also make sure that the firewall options to allow the app is enabled. If  Notezilla  is not listed then you will need to add it. Try all options Public, Private etc.

If you are using any other Firewall tool (usually included with Anti-Virus software) then you will have to configure that firewall.

Make sure you do this on both sending and receiving computer.


Also, If it was working earlier and not working now, then you will need to analyze if you installed any other software recently or changed computer configuration (like you computer name, IP address). If computer name or IP address has changed then others will have to update the computer name/IP address in their computers list in  Notezilla .
