"There is no better program when it comes to simplicity, stability, and plain out-and-out wealth of features. It's great to use such a well thought out program. This is definitely going into my top 10 must-have list, which hasn't changed for almost a decade now; welcome QNP5!. " - Casman

Scrollbar

Can a note have a vertical scrollbar?

Yes. In order to enable vertical scrollbar, follow the below steps.

  • Right click on QNP tray icon. A popup menu will appear

  • Choose General Preferences option from the menu. The general preferences window shows up

  • Choose the Notes tab

  • Select "Vertical Scroll Bar" option and choose OK

  • All new notes created will have a vertical scroll bar

QNP Icon in the system tray

I am using Windows XP. Sometimes, QNP icon does not appear in the system tray (rightmost part of the task bar) during system start up.

When I try to launch QNP again, I get an message "Quick Notes Plus is already running. Only one instance of application can run at a time"

Missing icons from the system tray at Windows startup is a known bug in Windows XP. Please refer the following articles to know the possible resolution for this problem.

http://www.annoyances.org/exec/forum/winxp/t1033917042

To access QNP when this scenario occurs, you will need to exit QNP and launch it again from the start menu. Since you will not see the icon in the system tray, you will need to exit using the hotkey Ctrl+Shift+Q.

The animated alarm icon in the system tray (rightmost part of the task bar) is too small to identify and sometimes Windows XP hides it. Is there a way to directly show the sticky note when an alarm turns on?

We do have an option in QNP to show the sticky note directly when alarm turns on.

  • Right click on QNP tray icon, a menu will appear

  • Choose "General Preferences|Alarms" tab

  • Enable the "Popup Alarm Due window when an Alarm activates" option and choose OK

This option when enabled, will pop up the Alarm Due window directly in addition to the icon animation in the system tray

Registration Code/Serial Number

I received a serial number after ordering QNP. How do I enter the serial number in to QNP?

Follow the below steps to enter the serial number in to QNP.

  • Right click on QNP tray icon, a menu will appear

  • Choose Help|Enter Registration Code... option from the menu, a window will appear

QNP expects the serial number in different format.

  • Right click on QNP tray icon, a menu will appear

  • Choose Help|Enter Registration Code... option from the menu, a window will appear

Sending Notes

Can I send sticky notes over the Internet?

Technically Yes. But it also depends on the way you and your friend are connected. QNP can only send notes to IP address that it can directly connect to. Meaning, you can send notes to all the other computers on your LAN and anyone on the Internet who has an open static IP address.

QNP uses TCP/IP port 20202 to send/receive notes. You will need to configure your firewall/proxy/router in order to successfully send/receive notes over the Internet.

Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes

Why QNP does not support 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes?

QNP "does" support photo-realistic 3D sticky notes, but not 100%. One good example is Crumpled Paper Skin which is part of QNP.

QNP "does not" support 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes because of the following reasons:

  • 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes cannot be resized.

  • 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes cannot have a scrollbar. Hence it can hold very less content.

  • 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes occupy more space on Windows desktop because of its non-rectangular shape. With very few sticky notes, the desktop will look cluttered.

  • 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes are not directly editable.

  • 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes affects the performance of the application and the whole system.

  • 100% Photo-Realistic Sticky Notes are more of fancy and less practical.

QNP Data Files

Where are the sticky notes and other data files saved?

By default the sticky notes, memoboards and other data files are saved under "My Documents\My Notes" folder

How do I change the default location of QNP data files?

Please follow the below steps to change the default location of QNP data files.

  • Exit QNP

  • Copy all the files/folders from "My Documents\My Notes" folder to the new desired folder.

  • Launch QNP

  • Right click on QNP tray icon, a menu will appear

  • Choose "General Preferences" from the menu

  • On the General Tab, change the "Store Folder" to the new folder by choosing "Browse" button

  • Exit & Launch QNP again.

Firewall

My firewall gives me a warning when QNP starts. Is QNP trying to access Internet? Is it sending any personal information over the Internet?

Using QNP, one can send notes across network. QNP acts as a server in order to send or receive notes across network. This is the reason why your firewall gives a warning. It does not try to access Internet unless you explicitly try to send a note to someone over the internet. Also it does not send any of your personal information over internet.

You can configure the firewall to trust QNP so that it does not give any warning.

Alternatively you can also follow the below steps to avoid this behavior.

  • Right click on QNP tray icon, a menu will appear

  • Choose "Advanced|Work Offline" from the menu

By performing the above steps, the firewall will not give any warning. Also you will not be able to send/receive notes across network using QNP.

Ordering and Delivery

Do you offer any discount if I order more than 1 license?

Of course. Please have a look at the volume discount prices on our order page.

I ordered QNP 5. Where do I download the full version from?

Now that you have ordered QNP, you would have received the serial number in an email. Use the serial number to unlock the trial version to make it a full version. We do not provide a separate full version download.

If you are not using a trial version already, you may download it here.
